stealing A Generation - Sisha fight against human trafficking

Hello Supporters,

The message is out! We’ve received a lot of press coverage regarding our work investigating and assisting police in shutting down illegal and abusive orphanages. The Brisbane Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Age, call the orphanage industry in Cambodia “the stealing of a generation.”

Orphanages in Cambodia are a lucrative business. The children are the assets.
There are the highlights of the reports:

  • Over 70 per cent of the 10,000 children living in Cambodia’s estimated 600 orphanages have a parent; although research shows most are portrayed as orphans to capitalise on the goodwill of foreign tourists and volunteers, including thousands of Australians.
  • Up to 300 of these centres are operating illegally and flouting a push by government and United Nations agencies for children to be reunited with their parents.
  • The managers of several respected Australian-run orphanages are alarmed by the situation and note that the number of orphanages has increased 65 per cent in the past five years, while the number of orphans has reduced dramatically as Cambodia recovers from genocide and an AIDS epidemic.
  • There are many reports of cash transactions for children, although it is usually referred to as a donation to the child’s family.

Help us continue the fight. We can’t walk away from these children. Become their Champion. Become a SISHA Champion. Your small gift of $10-$100 helps to free these children and reunite them with their families.

Sincerely,

Steve Morrish
Executive Director

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu embraces the Native American Indian community

Ayi Jihu has been working with the Native American Indian community in various ways for some time building up firm relationships within the Native Indian community.  This is all part of the Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Entertainment Ltd Strategy of going right to the roots of things in culture, music and art.  Ayi Jihu does not just talk about ‘keeping it real’, She is trying hard to live it.

We are very excited that she will be BAFOL’s Global International Ambassador.

Along with her hectic schedule, she still has time to dedicate her voice in being a great humanitarian; that is why BAFOL is pleased in announcing Miss Ayi Jihu joining our foundation by lending her voice and time to help others be aware of our journey and our goals in assisting individuals that live day-to-day with Autism Spectrum Disorders.”

She is so committed and full of energy and she is doing amazing things from nothing. I mean three kids is hard enough, three autistic children I cannot imagine and then with all that she sets up and runs BAFOL. I just had to get involved and help and do whatever I could do. My Manager Stevie Eagle E also has an autistic son and so he was very much up for this too. Shlepp Entertainment Ltd will be doing all they can to work with and help BAFOL. I am hoping to get be at a fund raiser for BAFOL in July and that’s when we shall really get things started. Right now I am doing all my homework on autism. Chinese star Ayi Jihu makes history presenting at the Native American Music Awards with Angela DeMontigny and Terri Lynn

Chinese star Ayi Jihu makes history presenting at the Native American Music Awards with Angela DeMontigny and Terri Lynn

On the American side of the Border with Canada a stones throw away from Niagara Falls in the Seneca Casino and Hotel complex, Native American and Canadian artists celebrated the best of their culture, music and vibe at the 14th NAMA (Native American Music Awards). They were joined by Chinese Star Ayi Jihu, herself a Yi Native, to pay tribute and award those from their community who had shone most brightly in 2012.

Chinese star Ayi Jihu at the Native American Music Awards

Like many of you reading this, we had no idea the native American Indian community even had an award ceremony. We were oblivious to the Native American music scene and we had no idea what to expect. What we discovered was a vibrant Native American music community and scene and it has amazing artists who would top any chart in RnB, Hip Hop, pop, blues, soul as well as its own distinct music and identity.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu at the Native American Music Awards

Having been to quite a few award ceremonies around the world, the first thing that struck me about the NAMA’s was the people that attended it. The moment you walk into the building you are aware that you are surrounded by characters, personalities, talent and passion. There was not a tux in site. Everywhere you looked people were saying something with what they were wearing, the diversity in the way people dressed gives you a clue to the distinctiveness in the style and music of the event itself. You will see everything from Traditional native regalia to ‘blinged out’ street style and all in between and for some reason which we could not quite figure out, it just works. It’s beyond just being cool, it’s interesting and for the most part very real.

Ayi Jihu was styled by Top Native designer Angela DeMontigny. She is no stranger to this event and has dressed many of the native community’s biggest stars. It is her relationship with Chinese star Ayi Jihu however that is finally getting her the recognition she deserves and the dress she designed and styled Ayi Jihu in was definitely a show stopper.

The rich diversity and style at the NAMAs was evident everywhere and gave us a hint of what was to come on stage.

Ayi Jihu and Angela DeMontigny were presenting an Award together with Native Star Terri Lynn. Terri Lynn who is also styled by Angela DeMontigny looked stunning in her designs on and off stage. She was nominated in several categories.

The NAMA’s showcased many genres of Native American music from the traditional to the new. Artists like Jana Mashonee who performed with rapper ‘The Boy Illinois’ represent the pop side of the Native American music scene. She has won several awards in the past.

The traditional artists and music at the NAMA’s also makes this event a little different. The Native American Music community has some amazing vocalist and performers.

The grooves and melodies from Native American Music seem to have many elements that we hear in popular music today. The use of the drum is also very similar to how drums are used in African culture and music as well as Asian Music and culture.

Thrown up in between the traditional and the new are artists like Indian Elvis.

We had access to all areas at the NAMA’s and found the spirit and friendliness of the Artist, organizers and fans beyond anything we had experienced before. It made us wonder why the Native American Music community has remained such a secret. The talent in their ranks is comparable to much we have now also.

Watching Ayi Jihu alongside Native Fashion Designer and Haida star Terri Lynn present at the NAMA’s was a nice bit of history, but to us it was also a clue as to why the Native American music scene has not perhaps realised it full potential as yet. Artist like Nelly Furtado are far and few between, when you see just how much talent there is within the Native American community you realize that getting themselves out there in the right light (for them) is perhaps their hardest battle.

“Firstly I want to thank Terri Lynn and then the NAMA’s for inviting me here and making me feel so welcome and at home. I also want to say a big thank you to Angela DeMontigny who not only styled myself and Terri Lynn but who also made this whole thing happen. I feel privileged to be here. I feel a great responsibility to represent my people well and I see the same thing here among the Native American music community. I was not on stage for very long and I did not say very much, but I was aware of the significance of everything and just hope that my presence here will turn a few eyes towards the Native American community in a positive way as well as help people all over the world see that we are all in fact just one people. Sounds like big words but it is so true.

Everyone I met here was so interesting and kind. I did not feel like an outsider or someone who was here for the first time. I felt very much at home. There are many things my people [Yi People of China] have in common with the Native American community, from our love of music to the strong connection we have with our culture, history, traditions and our land. It’s a shame that these types of events are not broadcast to the kids of the world so they can see there is more than one way of being, more than one way vision of how things can be.

Ayi Jihu at the Native American Music Awards

I hope the Native American Music community will invite me again and others like me to participate in their celebrations so that the world begins to take notice of all they have to bring to the table. I have seen some truly amazing artist tonight, singers, dancers musicians and comedians. They are so very talented these people.

I had a great time, learnt a lot and I have been inspired by much I saw and experienced. There is a great passion within the Native American music community. Nothing seems to be done just for the sake of it or just to sell stuff. There is a meaning and a reason behind every word and action when they perform and sing. I love this.”

Young Native Fashion™ takes Native Fashion mainstream

Young Native Fashion™ takes Native Fashion mainstream

The launch of the Young Native™ Fashion line today signals the arrival of Native Fashion into the mainstream fashion market in a credible way.  For years many have dabbled with the concept of Native American (Canadian) influences and vibes in their fashion lines but until now no one has really been able to crack that elusive crossover appeal that would enable Native Fashion to appeal to a wider audience, until now.

Top Native Fashion Designer Angela Demontigny takes native fashion mainstream with Young Native Fashion

Top [Native born] fashion designer Angela DeMontigny has been pushing the boundaries of fashion to the world earning herself a place in the top 100 of the most fascinating Aboriginal Canadians as well as getting a lot of international praise.  She has earned the respect of many over the years as she continues to turn out top class collections despite all of the hurdles in front of her.  The Fashion industry is brutal,  she has had to deal with many issues from finding the right suppliers for her materials, finding the right craftsmen and women to make her garments, handbags and accessories to the high standard she demands while keeping her pricing competitive.  She has had to deal with the problem of getting out of the ‘Native’ box while wanting to firmly represent her culture and community.  These are just some of the issues Angela DeMontigny has had to struggle with as well as being a single mother with two children.  It has not been easy at all.  However she has kept going and it was not until her meeting and collaboration with another female maverick: Chinese star Ayi Jihu that the final step was taken in helping the world see and understand the full crossover potential of her designs and work.  Some would say linking up with Chinese Star Ayi Jihu was a stroke of genius on the part of Angela DeMontigny, others would say it was just lucky.  Those who know anything about success and business know you have to make your own luck.

Ayi Jihu global Ambassador for Young Native™ Fashion with it's founder Angela DeMontigny

Whatever the reason for their coming together it has been thus far, successful.  Within the two years since they first met Young Native™ was created, Angela DeMontigny completely and successfully re-designed the Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser™ costume (which we can now show to the world for the first time anywhere).  The brief was to create a costume for an ethnic urban Superhero coming from China that embodies several cultures from around the world but also make it contemporary and credible for a superhero of today.  We feel she has nailed it on the head with the awesome Fear Chaser™ outfit seen below (for the first time).  Sexy, cultural, different.  She looks like she can and will kick your butt too!  This is a new type of superhero that will stand out in a time when superheros are all over the place in the media, running the box office.  Ayi Jihu’s Fear Chaser™ sets itself apart from the rest and the costume designed and handmade by Angela Demontigny and her team has captured the whole Fear Chaser vibe to perfection. We think it’s amazing and we are sure the Millions of FearChaser™ Fans out there will agree. We look forward to hearing what the gamers (all 25 million of them) who played the original Ayi Jihu Fear Chaser game with the old style look will make of this!. We are waiting for the New FearChaser™ Teaser Trailer set to come out in the next few weeks. Shot with the Circus Orange, Dangerman Crew in Canada we are expecting some serious fireworks as they co-produced the Teaser trailer with Shlepp Entertainemnt Ltd. Exciting times for Ayi Jihu and Angela DeMontigny.

The inclusion of Ayi Jihu into Angela DeMontigny business and marketing and her subsequent connection with Shlepp Entertainment Ltd (the company behind Chinese star Ayi Jihu) brought Angela DeMontigny and her new Young Native™ Fashion brand a ‘truly’ global audience cementing what was already there. It confirmed to the world that here was a top Fashion designer who happened to be Native, rather than just a Native Fashion designer.  Angela has finally managed to step out of the box.

‘Live Free, Love Free’, is the motto of Young Native™ Fashion.  It is obvious to us when you look at the new Young Native™ Fashion line the models and settings used that Angela DeMontigny is all about cultural diversity and expression.  She fuses this into her designs, imagery and styling without the usual ‘I am a Native Indian Designer’ overkill we are so used to.  It’s just natural, seamless. It looks and feels right to the objective everyday person who may not understand or wish to be overly native in their appearance.  We cannot claim to be fashion experts we just like what we like and if something looks and feels good we can see it.  We are just like the majority of people out there who can just feel when something is right or not and lets face it most people just want to look good, feel good and fit in.  At the same time people want to also express their own individuality.  Some like to overstate things, some understate, but the majority like to hint at things without going overboard.  Finding that balance as a Fashion Designer who is Native has always been the issue in it’s getting out to a wider consumer base and audience.  Angela DeMontigny has mastered that difficult balance and through her Young Native™  Fashion line she is now ready to express it to the world.

Angela DeMontigny fuses cultural Diversity with High Fashion with her new Young Native™ Fashion line

Angela DeMontigny fuses cultural Diversity with High Fashion with her new Young Native™ Fashion line

Not everyone sees things the Angela DeMontigny way. There are some within her own community who see Angela DeMontigny as a bit too radical.  This has come to a head recently when Angela DeMontigny revealed some of her new Young Native™ line on her Young Native Facebook page.  Her new line of Tee’s called SQUAW have caused a storm with some members of the Native community who see the word as disrespectful or derogatory.  Although Angela’s SQUAW tees actually are about reclaiming an Indian word and bringing back the beauty and dignity of it’s original meaning some in her community just don’t like it.

The SQUAW Tee’s shown below have the word SQUAW written across the front of the Tee and under each letter is the word it represents.  ’Spiritual Quintessential Unique Aboriginal Woman’.  The main argument from those who do like the SQUAW  Tee’s is this was a word hijacked by the ‘White Man’ to describe their women in a negative way and should not be used at all, especially by a Native designer.  Although Angela DeMontigny has remained silent throughout this raging debate it is clear to us that she is looking forward and not backward in trying to reclaim this word .  Objectivity has not often been linked to radical thinking and those that oppose the SQUAW line are making their voices heard.

Native Fashion Designer Angela DeMontigny's SQUAW tee line ignites controversy

Native Fashion Designer Angela DeMontigny’s SQUAW tee ignites controversy

We managed to persuade Angela DeMontigny to give us her take on the whole SQUAW Tee’s issue.  Although Angela DeMontigny was reluctant to speak about it she did make this short statement.

“As a native woman myself, to some degree I can understand the feelings of some within the native community towards my SQUAW Tee shirt. I knew this would cause some controversy.  I cannot however, agree with or understand the personal attacks and threats upon myself, Ayi Jihu and those that work with or support me.  I have found that part of it very disappointing and embarrassing to be honest.  I wonder what the world must think when they see something like this…it does not show us well.  I created the SQUAW Tee shirt in order to make a statement – to hopefully start a dialogue and to do something positive. I thought it was time we took back this corrupted word – OUR word - to take the negative power out of the term and show it to the world as it was meant to be.  The power of a word is in how you CHOOSE to use it and I personally REFUSE to allow others from a different culture to attach a negative meaning to a word that refers to myself as a native woman.  I am doing this on behalf of my ancestors, grandmothers, aunties and sisters who suffered from the abuse of this word in the past.  I saw the opportunity with Ayi Jihu to change the negativity of this word by presenting it to an audience of Billions who have never heard it before. Through her, their first experience of this word would be a positive one.  Many forget that the rest of the world does not necessarily know about our culture, our history and struggles.  My intentions were always for the good…to start a change for the better and they remain the same.  Despite the fact that there are some who do not see it this way and wish to cling to the past, I remain steadfast in my original and true intention. The words on the Tees speak for themselves and at this point I have nothing more to say except that  I understand that change and moving forward for some is hard, almost impossible, but someone has to try to do it and rather than look to someone else, I took on that mantle.  I can only hope in time, they will understand what I am trying to do and why I am doing it. However, if they do not, so be it.  I will stick to my guns on this because I believe in what I am doing.”

Angela DeMontigny stand behind her SQUAW Tee shirt line

Despite the controversy surrounding the SQUAW Tee’s  the overwhelming response to Young Native™ has been spectacular.  The new line combines rich and deep vibrant colours with the highest quality materials. This is a look worthy of any of the top brands in our opinion,  the pictures speak for themselves and if you want to see more visit the website www.youngnativefashion.com and you will see what we mean.

There are some within her own community who see native designer Angela DeMontigny as a bit too radical a bit too Johnny Depp Lone Ranger 2013.

Angela is not content with just making clothes. Her Young Native™ Fashion brand now also boasts luxury handbags and Jewelry.

CHINESE STAR AYI JIHU TO BE IN I BELIEVE IN MONSTERS FILM BY AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu to be in movie I believe in Monsters by award winning director

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu is set to take on her first real acting role in the latest movie from award winning director Flaminia Graziadei ‘I Believe in Monsters‘.

The two met last week at Shlepp Studios in London where Ayi read for the part although she was asked to play the part before their meeting. The Film deals with domestic and child abuse from a different angle. The young protagonist experiences her abusers actions as something supernatural while the reality of the real life monsters in our society is undoubtedly scarier than fiction.
It’s a comment on children who use their imaginations as a defense mechanism. Ayi is set to play the mother of the child in this short film. A role that calls upon her to really grasp the part and step out of her comfort zone.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu to star in I Believe in Monsters film

Ayi spoke to Global News Ink. “When I was first told about the possibility of playing a role in this film I was a little afraid. I don’t see myself as an actress yet, or at least not a very good one, but everyone keeps telling me I can do it. Stevie (Shlepp Entertainment ltd) who is co-producing the movie encouraged me to do it. We have both spoken about the need for me to get my acting up to speed before FearChaser™ starts shooting next year and the plan was always to take roles in short films that would give me some experience. Still even with all of that this is a heavy part for a first timer and I am very nervous but very excited too. I am really excited about working with Flaminia especially after meeting her. I was already a big fan of her award winning film InsideOut.

InsideOut WINNER-OF-BEST-SHORT-FILM-LIFF

When we got together she really took the time to explain my role and what was expected and she made me feel a lot more confident. She is such a passionate director and I know she would not work with me if she felt I could not do it.”

Ayi JIhu who just returned from a Tour of Canada working with Young Native Fashion™ also just finished shooting the new teaser trailer for Fear Chaser™.

We spoke to Flaminia Graziadei by phone from the Bulgarian Film Festival and she told us: “Ayi is a lovely girl and she will be perfect for the part. I wasn’t quite sure about it when I approached Stevie (Shlepp Entertainment Ltd) but once I and my associates met with her last week we all knew she would be perfect. She has a presence in front of the camera and there is no denying that. We start shooting in a few weeks and we are really lucky and happy to have Ayi in this film.

I Believe in Monsters featuring Chinese Star Ayi Jihu starts shooting on July 27th 2013 in London. A lot of people will be interested to see how Ayi’s first cinematic encounter goes down. The fact that she has an award winning director behind the project is a good start.

Ayi Jihu – How to reach a Billion People interview

hollywood it guy Eric Zuley
Chinese star Ayi Jihu a face that reaches a billion people

The long awaited Ayi Jihu single has finally arrived. The artist referred to as ‘The Chinese Madonna’ has not released a new track for almost a year concentrating and her philanthropic endeavors and her FearChaser® film. Ayi fans have been waiting a long time to see what this trailblazing artist would do next.

It just would not be Ayi Jihu or Shlepp Entertainment if they did anything anyone expected them to do now would it, and once again they stay true to their history and surprise as all again. Not that we should be surprised from a Chinese artist that coins a sentence no other international Chinese artist can right now, ‘Independent, Real Chinese and crossing over’. An artist that has broken the rules and made her own path from day one.

Before we get to the music we wanted to catch up with Ayi about what she has being doing all of this year after a crazy 2011 running all over the globe! It turns out she has been concentrating on promoting and raising the finance for her Fearchaser® Trilogy of movies. Fear Chaser came to the attention of the public in 2010 and very soon after that an online game (which was played by 25 million people around the world) was created. Ayi Jihu told us that everything she does now has some link to FearChaser®. Last year she took FearChaser® into schools around the world talking to young kids and teenagers about fighting their fears and pushing an Anti-bullying message.

This year due to her commitments she has been unable to get to the schools as much, something she desperately misses and so she is making a special DVD that schools can use to get her message across to the kids.

Ayi Jihu also told us that FearChaser® would be breaking ground on production this year. She told us although the budget for the movie was the biggest, it was not small either. It seems all of the hard work has paid began to pay off for Ayi Jihu and we asked her when we could expect to see the film. ‘We are confident it will be 2014 if we keep the production on schedule and start as expected this year. but it is quite a huge undertaking, being shot in several countries and there is a lot of special effects and martial arts in the film which I am training for now. I don’t want to give myself bad luck but I am confident it should be late 2014 at the moment’.

Ayi remains tight lipped when asked more about FearChaser® ‘I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. I don’t want to give too much away, but all I can tell you is it is going to be fantastic. We have some of the most talented people in the world working on this, I cannot believe how blessed I am that these people are on this project and more are coming on every day. The story is in three parts, three seperate films so I don’t even want to let on which part of the story is going to be in the first film. You will just have to wait a bit longer.’

Fashion and Style

The Young Native Fashion line is another project that Ayi has been concentrating on in 2012. A collaboration with Native Designer Angela DeMontigny Young Native Fashion has got people in the fashion world talking. We asked Ayi about Young Native Fashion.

Ayi Jihu Brand Ambassador for Young Native Fashion

Ayi Jihu Brand Ambassador for Young Native Fashion

‘Angela was my stylist anyway and she also designed the new FearChaser® costume. I knew she had it in her mind already to create a new line, but with us working together, Shlepp Entertainment involved, the whole Young Native thing just kind of naturally occurred. It just seemed like the right thing to do and once we came up with the name things kind of went from there. I think people are liking the top fashion look with a native twist and vibe.

Ayi Jihu Brand Ambassador for Young Native Fashion

‘Both Angela and I are Native, She being Native Cree/Metis and me being Native Yi Chinese. There is a authenticity about the Whole Young Native Line. All I do is wear the clothes and support the brand really. She does all the designing and everything. She is kind enough to say I helped inspire it so I’m happy with that. I think we have both been taken by surprise at the interest in the line. The finished collection comes out this year and we have been invited to Myanmar to showcase it at their first ever Fashion Week, which is amazing! We are trying to sort that all out now. I’m not sure if you know anything about Myanmar, It used to be called Burma, but it is quite an honour for us to be going there and doing this if everything can be brought together in time.’

Charity work
Ayi has just recently been made Global Ambassador for Sisha The Anti Human Trafficking organization founded in Australia. We asked her how that came about?

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu new Sisha Ambassador

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu new Sisha Ambassador

That all came through Fear Chaser really. My work with the schools and the other charities I support and have have worked with means more and more people are getting to know me because of that. One of the producers of the Fear Chaser movie James With is on the Sisha board and he kept asking me to do something to help them get a little more recognition for the great work they are doing, so I said yeah because they do amazing work and not a lot of people really know about Sisha and what they do.’ I will be doing a lot of charity work this year, not just with Sisha but with other organizations and Charities around the world. Not sure how I am gonna fit it all in, but I will try my hardest.

Hard working Ayi most surely is and her ‘Pay it forward’ attitude is setting an example for kids all over the world. Yes there is another way of doing things.

How does it feel to reach a Billion people?

Sometimes it hits home that there a lots of people watching what I do, but most of the time it does not enter my mind. I just get on with it. I have a great team and we are very grounded and we know exactly where we are going and how we wish to get there. We are not looking for quick routes or fixes and so the journey is a little harder and a little longer. I come from a small village and I guess you can take the girl out of the small village, but you can’t take the small village out of the girl so I just try to stay humble and keep working hard because I know I can make a difference.

Ayi’s list of credits is truly impressive:
Fearchaser®
Sisha Ambassador
FAAVM Ambassador
Young Native Ambassador
Global Dream Hair Ambassador
Ambassador representing A celebration of Women foundation inc
A partnership for Peace Ambassador
So-Yang Cognac and Green Tea Ambassador
Shlepp Entertainment/Shlepp Records Artist. If you ask her what she loves doing the most she will tell you the Music and so let’s get on to her new release It’s Magic.

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu's brand new single It's Magic

The new single is called ‘It’s Magic’and it includes 5 mixes all together. ‘So what’s so surprising about that I hear you ask? Well for an artist well known for her provocative lyrics and style, and at a time when music is getting faster and more dance orientated, Ayi has opted to release a love song with pop overtones and under 120bpm. It’s Magic is not what many would have expected from Ayi Jihu. There is no effort here to ‘Keep up with the Jones’s’. This is a beautiful, well crafted song about love, emotion, commitment and loyalty.

Its Magic Image (9)

A scene from Ayi Jihu's it's Magic video

A scene from Ayi Jihu’s it’s Magic video

The video is a little different too. It’s a mini movie, telling a story, with a twist. In order to get her story across Ayi opted to make two versions of the video, the longer one fleshing the story out a bit more and filling in some of the gaps one cannot fill in 3.30 seconds. A lot of thought and passion has gone into this track from Ayi. The presentation of the music artwork and website all have a distinct movie look. When we questioned Ayi about this she said, She did not want to just make a song and throw it out there, she wanted to make a statement whether people listened to it or not.

You will never get to far away from RnB with Ayi and even with it’s definite pop style, you can still hear and feel the RnB in this track. It’s one of those songs that if you listen to it more than once, you know it and you are singing it, like it or not. We feel quite a few people will like this and we feel even more people will associate themselves with the story and sentiment that Ayi is trying to get across.

Ayi Jihu's new single It's Magic with Remixes from The Trinity Band

For those of you who like their music with a a 4 to the floor vibe, don’t panic. Ayi Jihu linked up with the Trinity Band and their remix of the song takes it in a whole other direction while keeping the sentiment.

It goes from a more melancholy affair to a an upbeat dance and sing along happier track. Featuring live music and vocals from the Trinity Band who have come a long way since they almost grabbed the top prize on Sky’s Must be the Music’.

Add to that a sultry Blues and Soul Duet remix featuring Chicago born new comer Rapheal Rar Miller and you have a package that has a little bit of something for everyone.

Co Starring with Ayi Jihu on her promo video is Dream Idol Hunk Ollie Best. The two met at a Show and have remained good friends. The Dream Idols have become the Top Glamour group in Europe in just under 6 Months pulling in an all star celebrity following. It’s Magic has a lot going on. The whole project kinda takes you back to the days when singles meant something and artist did not throw one out every couple of weeks as seems to be the trend these days. It even has a trailer! which you see when you go to http://www.loveismagic.co.uk. Below we have the full Extended video. The uncut version for you to watch and the promo version.

For those of you that like your stuff uncut here is the full version

Whether or not the public will take to the way Ayi Jihu and Shlepp Records are presenting their music remains to be seen, one thing for sure is you get more than value for money here. Do we expect Ayi Jihu to change and do what everyone else is doing in the way they are doing it…..Nope, She never really has, so why should she start now? There is a lot to Ayi Jihu’s it’s Magic indeed, you only have to visit the website to see the whole look and feel is not like any other. You get the story, the making of, find out who did what, and much, much more. See for yourself. Visit www.loveismagic.co.uk we think you will be more than a little surprised again.

You can also keep up with all things Ayi with her new free Android App. You not only get all the it’s Magic videos and content to listen to but tons and I mean tons of extra stuff too. Music, images, videos and the coolest part is Ayi communicates directly with you via text and broadcast messages. That is very cool. You can Download it here.

Ayi Jihu - 'It's Magic' scene from the video

Yep it seems that Shlepp Records and Ayi have covered most things on this release. There truly is something for everyone here. For those of you who like your Ayi Old skool, there is a really cool video you can watch here called Music Motion Dance. This is for those who like the more raw edgy Ayi of Smak Dat, the Girl who took Macau by Storm and has since gone on to even greater things. We can only assume Ayi wanted to put this in to remind her fans that As she grows she will never abandon her roots, her love of Ragga, RnB, Hip Hop and all things Urban. Good to know Ayi. Whatever the reason it’s a nice little addition to the package. Check it out below.

For those Smak Dat lovers we have included that video below too:

It Just would not be Ayi Jihu if there was not some time of Charity of Philanthropy involved. Ayi Jihu is one of the few artist we know that seems to marry her ‘Giving back’ side or better yet her ‘Pay it forward’ side and her Artist side very well. She has being doing so from day one, which leads one to believe that this is who she really is rather than something she feels she has to do for appearance sake.

Ayi Jihu new belly dance video set to empower females

Chinese star Ayi Jihu hoping to empower women in her new belly dancer video

Chinese Star Ayi Jihu is looking to empower females in her new belly dancer video that will accompany the single. Ayi will be teaming up with Italian Belly Dance Queen Claudia Massera for the video. The video will feature a an all female cast and true belly dancing, something Ayi told us she was learning from Claudia. It seems the Chinese Madonna is now looking to become the Chinese Shakira?

Ayi Jihu

I have done some sort of Belly Dancing in the past, but when I look at what Claudia is teaching me I realise I was not really doing belly dancing. I am really looking forward to doing it right and showing the world in my new video. I want to fuse it with my style of dancing and try to come up with something a little different. Claudia is amazing and the things she can do with her body is crazy, I’m not sure I can do all of that but I am going to try and get as close to it as I can.

Ayi has had a busy year so far. She has just returned from Canada launching the Young Native™ Fashion Line with top Native designer Angela DeMontigny. She also shot the brand new Conceptual Teaser Trailer for her FearChaser™ Film which will be revealed next week. Ayi has just finished recording a brand new single with Production and artist crew Move Makers also and that single is due out after Belly Dancer. Right now she is concentrating on getting her belly dancing skills up to scratch for the video.

Claudia Massera has long been at the top of the UK Belly Dancing scene. She teaches and performs all over the UK and is also releasing her own single this year. Claudia combines Belly Dancing with keeping fit. Just like Ayi Jihu she is committed to empowering females through Belly Dance.

When I was introduced to Ayi’s new belly dancer single I knew straight away I wanted to be involved. It’s almost perfect for what I do and the fact that someone else is doing a song about Belly Dance and not me is even better. I think it would be too obvious if I did it. At first I could not believe it was a Chinese person, because we do not associate Chinese people with Belly Dance. I know it is very big over there though. Once I met Ayi and saw her work, listened to her music it made perfect sense, this girl seems to break all the rules and do things her own way. She is a woman after my own heart and we have much in common. We both want to empower females while keeping them sexy and feminine. We both want to use music and dance to achieve our goals and we both love Belly Dance, so we just hit it off straight away really. I’m training her for the video and she learns very fast. Proper belly dancing is different to what she has done before so I had to start her from scratch. She is an amazing dancer and I want to choreograph something that shows her style of dancing also.

I’m really looking forward to shooting the video and showing even more of the world the beauty of real Belly Dancing. I will have some of my best Belly Dancing girls in the video and they are all super excited too. We want to invite as many women interested in being in the video to contact us. It will be a really fun day, they can contact me on my facebook

Please use the contact from below to contact us if you are a female who would like to be in the Belly Dance video. Please note the we are happy for people from anywhere in the UK to be in the video but it will be shot in central London in late August 2013

Chinese star Ayi Jihu release the latest FC teaser today

Chinese star Ayi Jihu release the latest FC teaser today

Ever since Fearchaser hit the scene in 2009/2010 it sparked a lot of interest worldwide. So much so it was turned into an online game on Adventure Quest Worlds http://www.AQW.com and 25 million out of 100 million subcribers worldwide played and enjoyed the game. The idea of a superhero who can see and fight your fears is unique indeed and seems to have captured the imagination of many around the world. Now it has spawned into a full length film that is supposed to start production sometime next year. Today Ayi Jihu is launching what she calls a conceptual teaser of FearChaser to show the world it’s progression from it’s start in 2009 to now. The new Teaser can be seen on www.fearchaser.com. Most people seem to get the idea of FearChaser but some don’t. We love it, but is Ayi Jihu’s FearChaser the next big thing, or is it just another superhero movie cashing in on the public’s obsession with capes, masks and all things Marvel and DC? We caught up with the lady of the moment Ayi Jihu and asked her that exact same question. What makes FearChaser so special?

Chinese star Ayi Jihu star and co creator of fearchaser

Chinese star Ayi Jihu star and co creator of fearchaser

To me there are many things which make FearChaser a little special. I think everyone on one level or another can relate to being afraid of something no matter who they are and therefore everyone can relate to Fearchaser in a way that is different to other superheros like Batman or the hulk. I mean imagine right now I am afraid nervous and perhaps even afraid about this interview. If you were Fearchaser you could see the Fear Demons that are making my fear worse, feeding my fear. Making me sweat more, feeding of my fears and making me perhaps mess up causing me stress. I think that is a cool concept and that is what FearChaser is about at it’s simplest level. A lot of people relate to this in a kind of ‘Medium’ or ’6th sense’ way. I also like to explain it like the devil and angel on your shoulders in those old Tom and Jerry cartoons, one telling you to do this, the other telling you to do that.

Ayi Jihu new FearChaser look 2013

Ayi Jihu new FearChaser look 2013

One of the other things that makes FearChaser unique is the look and feel we wish to create. We wanted to create a different type of superhero a cultural hero and we are experimenting with the idea of animation and live action with photography in some parts. We had native fashion designer Angela Demontigny create the new FearChaser look which we love. It has elements of my Yi Chinese culture, african culture, strong Native American influences also. It’s not like any superhero outfit I have ever seen before. I know some won’t get it at first, because they are used to black latex or that type of thing. When most people are making heros that are looking more futuristic we have gone for a more retro look, but that is what FearChaser is all about. We are not afraid to be different and go against the norm.

Ayi Jihu FearChaser

The third thing which makes FearChaser special and this does not really come out in the Teaser or any of the trailers, Is how she goes about doing what she does. Yes there is a lot of punching, kicking etc but there is also a lot of drama in Fearchaser. In order for Fearchaser to be successful she must first conquer her own fears and she must also help others (mankind) do the same. It is not enough for her to just beat everybody up. That is just one part of the process. As a superhero FearChaser is mix between Batman and Superman (power wise). leaning more towards a Batman with some special abilities and powers that are taken from every culture of humanity. She has an African warrior princess, a Native American warrior, an Indian Warrior and a A Chinese and European Warrior within her. She is more in tune with nature and she is still really only human. She is a kind of mix and match of cultures and abilities from all around the world. Something she has to learn to master and control if she is going to succeed, As the warriors within her won’t always agree. This mirrors the world we all live in and how we all have different skills and abilities but very rarely seem to successfully work together. FearChaser has to overcome this problem within herself to harness the full potential of her abilities. It is truly developing into a wonderful story and FearChaser is a fantastic character.

Ayi Jihu's FearChaser™ is a more cultural natural superhero

Ayi Jihu’s FearChaser™ is a more cultural natural superhero

We read that FearChaser is based on you. Is that true?

In a strange way, yes. The whole idea of FearChaser started from my managers observation of me that I seem to run towards the things that I am afraid of instead of runnig away. He said to me ‘you seem to chase your fears Ayi’. My career has always been filled with fearful things for me. Trying to crossover, doing it independently, doing a lot of the things I have done and I am doing now. Most people think I am either mad or fearless. I would say I am closer to be being mad than fearless. Anyway that’s where FearChaser came from and in the film I am kinda playing myself. The story of FearChaser is as much about my journey in this business and in life as it is about Demons and Angels and epic battles. It’s a crazy fusion of fact and fiction and I can tell you the writers who are working on it now have their hands full because it’s a very new concept and has many levels for them to take into consideration. I am not sure how they are going to make sense of it all really but these people, that is all they do and they know what they are doing. I am just excited about the final result, but we still have soooo much to do before we are there, Making films on this level is long.

Ayi Jihu FearChaser

Because FearChaser is very much linked to my own experiences it has allowed me to take the FearChaser theme into schools around the world and apply it my anti-bullying and cyber-bullying campaign. I use myself (Fearchaser) as an example of what one can achieve when you fight your fears and don’t give into them. It really works, the kids get from on all ages. The young ones to the teenagers all seem to relate and because I am able to tell my own story they believe in my message. I am able to reach them. I try to explain to them that even now I am being bullied. When newspapers, blogs and even people on Facebook or other places just call you this or that, say stuff about you without knowing you or that is not true, judge you or put you down it feels the same as being bullied in school. In fact to me it is the same. It does not seem to matter what good you do or how many positive things you do, there are always people who want to tear you down and they now have the internet to do it. I try to explain to the kids that even when they finish school bullying still continues in the workplace, at social events in life on the internet, so the have to figure out a way of dealing with it now at school. I try to help them see and understand that fear makes one bully and the real strong person the real cool person is not the bully, but the one who chooses not to bully. I also try to show them they must develop a thick skin because the world is not going to change overnight. School is a training ground for life in many ways.
Ayi jihu takes her fearChaser message into schools around the world

What are you hoping to achieve with this new teaser?

We have many followers all over the world. Many came from the game, but others have just got interested in the whole FearChaser concept and want to watch it develop. The teaser was really about giving our fans and the world a cool update on how we are developing FearChaser, the look and the feel of it. It was about showing the new outfit created by Angela DeMontigny. It was great fun but so much hard work. I’m not sure people understand how much work goes into a few seconds on these things. I would like people to watch it and be infused by it and see what we are trying to create. I would like people to get involved share their ideas. Of course I would love people to like it too. However I would like them to watch it and understand this is not the final product, but a glimpse into what will be.

What scares you about FearChaser?

Me! There are so many people involved in this, so much work has been done and a lot of things are riding on me. I am very scared to be honest but I will fight it and do what I have to do. I only just finished shooting my first real acting role, in ‘I believe in monsters‘ Short film. Prior to this I have not done much acting and now I have several movies coming up and I have to lead the way in FearChaser. It’s really scary. People keep telling me i’m a natural. My manager says I was born to be in front of the camera he says I am a born actress. He and others believe in me and it is because I believe in them and trust them that I can even do this because no one wants to make a fool of themselves. Chinese people in particular do not like to ‘lose face’.

Ayi Jihu FearChaser

Ayi Jihu FearChaser

Do you think FearChaser could be the next big thing in films, like harry potter or Twilight?

I think it has all the elements to be as big a franchise as those types of movies, but we have to get it right and you need to get the best people doing the right things at the right time. It all starts with the writing and the story and goes from there and that is what we are working on at this time. We have some amazing minds on this and great creatives. It seems everyone is a believer. I think something special will come out of all of this, I really do. Just working on the Teaser in Canada told me how much more you can achieve when people really feel something. I had such a great time shooting it but it was very tough. I had to learn quite a few things in a short space of time. I loved working with crazy Tom Comet and Bex Carney from Circus orange and the whole team. It was an amazing experience.

What happens next?

We keep moving forward developing FearChaser, making it better getting all the pieces in place and building the team. The plan is to start production in late 2014 and everyone is working very had to meet that deadline. As you know FearChaser is just one of many things I am doing and for me the future is work, work, work. I have two songs and videos to release before the end of the year which I am really excited about. I have a couple of film projects that are also on the table, loads of work for my charities and lots of work with brands I am working with including Young Native Fashion. There are some seriously interesting projects that are on the table also, but I do not want to talk about them until they are fully confirmed. I would suggest people keep one eye on me because I have a lot of interesting things going down over the next few months along with FearChaser moving forward.

How do you think China or the Chinese will view fearchaser?

You know I have no idea, but I think they will like it. As i said before fear is universal and I am Chinese and I feel if they see me doing well they will get behind me. The Chinese people in China do not really know what to make of me right now. I don’t seem to follow any of the rules or fit into any of the usual boxes, so they just watch me to see what crazy thing I am going to do next. I know they are mostly proud of what I am doing or trying to do even if they do not understand it. I know in my region of China Sichuan I have great support and also from my Yi people. I don’t really think about it as much as some people may think. I am just too busy and I tend to see the world rather than just China or America or Europe. I just want people to get with what I am doing wherever they are.

Thank you Ayi

The obvious question on everyones lips was: would she be doing any live shows? We asked her about her plans. ‘I know everyone wants me to perform and I am sure I will, but I do not want to turn this into a music tour otherwise I will not spend anytime with my family or friends. I plan to do many things including a few shows, some tv and press, but mainly I just want to get back to my home and be with some of my friends and family who I have not seen for quite a while’.
